JLT Link Electric Bus Arrives in Jumeirah Lakes Towers

So DMCC started running electric buses around JLT starting August 1st. If you haven’t noticed yet, there’s a new transport option now. It’s all electric, which is different from what we had before.

The buses run on electricity. That’s the main thing. No gas, no fumes coming out. Pretty straightforward.

The Routes

There’s basically two loops inside JLT. They come around every 20 minutes or so. Then there’s another route that goes from Uptown Dubai to the DMCC Metro Station, and that one shows up every 30 minutes.

Stops are spread out across the area. You’ve got 18 of them total. The metro stations have stops too, which makes sense if you’re trying to connect with the rail system. Both DMCC and Sobha Realty metro stations are covered. If you’ve ever had to switch lines or figure out the quickest route across the city, having a look at the Dubai Metro map can save a surprising amount of time. 

Timing

Weekdays and Saturdays, the JLT buses run from 6:30 in the morning until midnight. Sunday’s a bit different, they start at 9:30 AM instead. The Uptown route is 7 AM to 8 PM.

The Buses Themselves

Different sizes. Some fit 16 people, some 23, some 31. They all have low floors so you can get on easily. Wheelchairs fit. Standing room too when it gets busy.

Why People Care

Parking here is rough. You spend time looking for a spot, pay fees, deal with the whole thing. A bus means you skip that. Saves money. Saves time. You can actually do something useful instead of circling around looking for a space.
